Hi, I have 3 years of experience in Excel VBA automation and database programming. When I used to work for a company InvestorForce I created a tool that might be similar (but less complex I guess) to what you need: Excel application that connects to an ftp server every night, downloads a csv file and compares its content to an SQLServer database, executes update and inserts statements based on the differences found, then it sends a mail from Outlook informing the recipients about the number of changes. (I think this will be a good base for your project too)
