This project is a little hard to characterize. I have a domain name that was established over 8 years ago. The site gets plenty of hits and is everything a business could want. Unfortunately, the DNS name we picked was a little short-sighted. The old domain is callforassistance.com. So, we decided to set up a separate website with a more appropriate name: lifelinkmedicalalert.com. I have essentially duplicated my content and made various attempts to promote the new site name to no avail. I'm thinking it may be that the search engines see the duplicated content on the new site virtually matching my old, established site. Isn't there a way to (for all intents and purposes) "RENAME" a domain? I know it's more complicated than that, with spidered/crawled databases being built over time, etc. So, how can I accomplish this and NOT totally hose my established domain? I want to "inherit" the respect of the established domain by my new domain.
Looking for a Google expert who knows what options I can exercise and can make the necessary changes.
