This is the first phase (Web design) of a project to ultimately build a Japan-based, English-language men’s magazine and discussion site on the topic of “being a better man and getting girls” and integrate it with a very busy forum and Wiki.
The full project encompasses three phases:
1. Web design
2. Redesign of the current forum and Wiki to reflect the Web design
3. Integrated registration of current forum and Wiki with the rest of the site
//This is part 1 - Web design// If you show proficiency and reliability in this phase you’ll be asked to work on the following phases via a private project.
Read the attached spec for full details.
Overview: Design a 10-page base site from current simple men's-oriented (NOT adult content) site which includes a Blog and a number of other features, along with a CMS, and room for a potentially infinite number of pages of content.
The current site has a few pages and affiliate links, AdSense. The site is just a place-holder and will be trashed in place of a proper site. It can only be used for copying over the ad coding. The site must not influence your design, it just provides context. Within the site is a forum has upwards of 600 registered members, uses Simple Machines, and averages hundreds of hits a day. There is also a well-developed Wiki with many pages of user-generated content. The two have integrated registration thanks to voluntary programming efforts. (In Stage 3 this registration will need to be tied in with the new site.)
The new site, other than looking sharp, will need space for content and advertising (banner and text).
You'll have the chance to use your skills and technology and will be given freedom to add flavor. You must demonstrate the ability to make a sexy and eye-catching site that will appeal to men. Clunky templates won't cut it.
Timeframe: 15-35 days, extra time allowed for a quality product and for good interaction when properly discussed with me and approved by me.
-Adhere to the project specifications and only deviate from them when discussing with me (I am very open to ideas to improve upon my plan)
-Ask for clarification and assume nothing but the very obvious
-Respond to all emails within 24 hours on weekdays, 48 hours on weekends unless otherwise arranged
-Be available at least twice a week on GMail text chat
-Provide two weekly updates on your progress
-Provide documentation for usage of all installed components unless we have both agreed it is not necessary (you may direct me to documentation in other places; you don’t necessarily have to draft it yourself.)
Failure to meet any of these requirements will be grounds for project cancellation.
Payment will be made on a benchmark level in divisions of 10% (mockup #1) /10% (full mockup) / 10% (additional features) / 10% (full design) / 35% (rollout) / 25% (debug)
*No money will be paid up front.
**This payment plan is not negotiable and is designed to ensure that both the buyer and provider receive a fair shake. Do not bid if you are not comfortable with these terms.
>>>Please note this is a repost of a previous project request. The previous project was a failure because the provider did not communicate as per the required schedule, did not reply in adequate time, went over their proposed deadline, and produced something well short of expectations.
>>>The complete project specs are attached. Please read them thoroughly to see if you are OK with this project.
And BEFORE YOU BID - STOP!
I WILL IMMEDIATELY IGNORE your bid if you estimate less than 14 days, and unless you show signs of having read this description and ask at least one question about the project.
If you take this project on you'll be rewarded with an exciting topic (if you're a man, you'll probably learn a lot) and potentially receive further work opportunities.
Thank you and I look forward to working with you.
READ: Despite my clear instructions above, only about 3 bidders have actually posted a valid bid.
All other bids are immediately moved to Not Interesting. I don't care what you designed, I don't care how many testimonials you have...
To repeat: I WILL IMMEDIATELY IGNORE your bid if you estimate less than 14 days, and unless you show signs of having read this description and ask at least one question about the project.
Providers with no feedback would be wise to bid on the low side. There is zero chance that I will select a no-feedback provider at the maximum bid.

You need responsible and creative people to do the job. I am ready. Portfolio at www.xyz.in.ua. Only one clarification - ready to do it on mambo, not joomla. Don't worry both have the same basis.
