This is the first project following my feasibility project of the development of pet industry SAAS. The creation of the SAAS is expected to be a long term initiative where the development will be over several phases/projects.
It is absolutely critical for the designer to practice the most adaptable software architecture available. Each piece of the application must integrate without through-away code or waste effort with redesigning existing structure to adapt to new code. This will be a cascading style project as new functionality is added as time progresses. I understand some frontend UI rework will most likely be necessary as we add content or that I learn what works, or does not with the UX. However, I would expect that the underlying code structure smoothly builds with no recode.
Ultimately, my objective is to market this SAAS. However, the immediate goal is to create the software for my wife’s pet grooming business which will also serve as the ideal test bed.
The immediate need is for a customer and dog database. The customer will be expected to fill out a webform (officially a consent form, attached). Once complete, the data should load into the tool’s tables where the admin can view, edit, and store changes. Currently, this is done through a Adobe PDF form where the customer is expected to supply a paper copy upon the initial appointment. The goal would be to have this performed online.
These are the high level objectives for this phase:
- Determine what infrastructure will be required for the development and live operation of the tool
- Identify and create the tables, fields and relationships
- Create the client data entry forms, client account area
- Create the client consent form, have the data loaded to tables
- Crate ADMIN forms to access, edit client data
