Write one definition paragraph. Think of the many ways you can define a term or concept and employ 2-3 of those methods in your short paragraph. Seek to define a term or concept that you think is little understood, often misunderstood, or regularly misrepresented. Your definition could serve to condemn, to defend, or simply to make your audience think more critically. In this way, your paragraph would be build on a purpose and that usually leads to better writing. Here is a sampling of ideas for terms to explore: Christian, Muslim, democrat, marriage, feminism, racism, Darwinism, creationism, sanctification, submission to authority, leadership, or addiction.
Practice the writing skills you have been studying in our course. Your paragraph should include the following:
a strong and creative topic sentence
precise and active verbs
strong development with examples and commentary
unity and coherence
sentence variety in length and opener
third or first person point of view
