I have to use XML (and perhaps SOAP or http post) to send a database query to the web service host attached to an on-line database, eg. book your flight here. The query will be something like: WHO IS BOOKED ON FLIGHT AB1234. The query will return a result which will be something like: AARON; BAILEY; CHARLTON; DAVIES; EDWARDS; FINNEGAN; GEOFFREYS etc.
I have excellent VB6 and nearly excellent VB 2005 skills. I just don’t know how to create and send the XML request file to the web service, or to receive the response. I have done several on-line tutorials in XML. SOAP, web services and WSDL I have the customer’s wsdl file and also a schematic of their services, bindings, porttypes, messages and types. More details will be given to the successful bidder. At no time will the customer’s name be sought or divulged.
Your job will be to answer my insanely stupid questions by Skype text (or talk if the going gets tough), so that: 1. I start to know what I’m talking about, 2. I can check with the customer to see if they know what they are talking about, 3. I understand how to do the actual job, and others like it in the future and 4. I actually do it successfully.
This will suit someone living within +/-5 hours of GMT (unless you like sitting up all night). The project will be for a total of 3 hours, in sessions of say half an hour (consecutive, or separated by a short time) so you know where you stand. At the end of each session we will agree the time taken to date. If I don’t need the full 3 hours we will sign ourselves off as job well done, you get the money anyway. If I need more (it could happen!), we will do another project as this one. The whole project should be completed in say 2 days maximum. Immediate start is ideal.
