The client requested a map of their property and an assessment for Maple Syrup production. They also asked for an area to be roughly surveyed in the NW quadrant of the property for clearing for pasture. An assessment of the irrigation options for the land was also requested. I used a GPS to mark the location of the main structures on the property, the trails, the highest point and walked the perimeter of a flat section of the land that was suitable for use as pasture with the GPS tracking enabled on the device. I converted the GPS point data to shapefiles. I marked a suitable location for a traditional electric powered pump by locating the deepest point in the pond and found the highest point on the property as an initial assessment while on site. I also physically and in a GPS device marked maple trees suitable for tapping. I also did a feasibility study and surveyed a suitable location for a RAM Pump.

Worked with a New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Biologist to create a geoprocess in ArcGIS model builder that takes land cover, road and deer wintering area data as inputs and outputs the projected effect on local deer populations in terms of severity and season of the effects. I created the model and generated the map layout and symbology used in the below sample map. I also collected all of the data used from open Canadian provincial and federal sources and performed independent research on the the use of deer wintering areas by white tailed deer and the effects of deer fencing on their migrations.
