Modbus TCP Server with Database
A Modbus TCP server leveraging a Java library that persists incoming tickets to a star-schema data mart. A web app serves as the frontend to the database and is served over a secure VPN. Tickets come in from saltwater disposal sites where truckers input their data on a touchscreen driven by a PLC on the network. The Modbus server, database, and web app is hosted on a Raspberry Pi. The database is automatically backed up each day and backups are copied to a remote Raspberry Pi for redundancy. The Pi is administered via SSH access or the Desktop accessed via VNC. The web app can slice and dice results based on various constraints and can export to a CSV file. There is also an authorization database which resides on a dedicated PLC. The web app has an area which interfaces with that PLC by invoking Modbus client commands using the same Java library.
