A fishermen Memorial
Located in Vila Nova de Gaia, near the mouth of the D'ouro river, S. Pedro da Afurada is a fishing village practically isolated from the city, thus preserving its character and tradition. A response was given to the exercise, calling for the planning of the church square, which until now was surrounded by construction works. With roughly 4000m2 (four thousand square meters) and a gap of 7m (seven meters), the land in question has a highly advantageous position facing the D'ouro river, and its location, in relation to the town, allowed for a fishermen memorial, a place of meditation and reflection and where residents can make their prayers and pay respects to their dead at sea.
About Me
Jose Luis de Ancêde Aroso Marques was born in Porto, May 12, 1986. He attended a professional art school (Escola artística e profissional Árvore, EAPA) between 2002 and 2005. Graduated in 2005 as architect assistant, he scores 20 in the final test of technical-constructive nature and finishes with an average of 15,7 score. In 2007, after a few months living in Holland, joins the University of Arts (Escola superior artística do Porto, ESAP) with the intention to study architecture, until this moment. In this period of learning, Luis Ancêde conducted academic projects as planning of public space, single-family housing, bi-familiar housing, collective housing, ribbon-housing and public architecture.
