Concurve Lamp

Metered dose inhalers are one of the most widely prescribed devices for treating asthma and other chronic lung disorders. However the development of the inhaler has followed the same form since its inception. Research undertaken prior and during this project revealed that a large number of patients have great difficulty in correctly administering their dose of medication as well as recording and monitoring their results. It was decided that during this project a new device would be conceived that would help to make using an inhaler easier for the people who were forced to use it every day. The project focused on: the handling and operation of the inhaler, use in public and associated stigmatism, recording and monitoring of results.

Fujin Intelligent Metered Dose Inhaler Concept

Creative Glass LTD is a niche supplier of custom produced architectural and decorative glassware with strong links to the public art and the building trade. Creative Glass specialise in applying colour and texture to the surface of the material.

Based in Stockton-on-Tees Creative Glass operate across the country and are supplied by a wide and varied base of suppliers which allow the company to be exceedingly flexible with the type of product they can produce for clients.

The product is an architectural structure for the garden, a glass arbour as it were, that utilises a photovoltaic module to create power. This power is utilised to illuminate the decorative glass used in its construction to transform the product in to an entertaining space during the night. With the current feed in tariff and photovoltaic modules on the market at the moment the product could also generate power for the user if they so wished.

Half light and low light conditions can cause irritation anddifficulty to a large range of people as well as causing eyestrainand potentially allowing for accidents due to poor vision. Thisis particularly pronounced in those over the age of 40 due tomacular degeneration.

The problems around this area were thoroughly investigatedby the design team to find a solution and possible new productopportunity. This has led to a design proposal which is believedto solve a number of problems in this area.
