I am a biomedical engineering student currently in the first year of my MSc Degree at Politecnico di Milano. My previous degree was obtained at Ryerson University in Toronto under the same title. As a member of such a multidisciplinary field, communication is very important and is something I take very seriously. I pride myself on my written communication skills. I have co-authored multiple academic papers and assisted in the writing of many others. I have also submitted many successful award applications, which required written proposals and motivations, such as the Norman-Esch Engineering award and Alta Scuola Politecnica scholarship. Although my background and training is in science and engineering, I can provide editing, proofreading and other writing services for both technical and nontechnical content (such as blogs, webpages, promotional emails, tweets, etc.). Whatever the topic or task may be, I am confident that I can provide an exceptional final product.

Improving the quality of photoacoustic images using the short-lag spatial coherence imaging

Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers

Clutter noise is an important challenge in photocoustic (PA) and ultrasound (US) imaging as they degrade the image quality. In this paper, the short-lag spatial coherence (SLSC) imaging technique is used to reduce clutter and side lobes in PA images. In this technique, images are obtained through the spatial coherence of PA signals at small spatial distances across the transducer aperture.

Nonnegative matrix factorization and sparse representation for the automated detection of PLM

Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing

Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability in adults, and incurs a significant economic burden to society. Periodic limb movements (PLMs) in sleep are repetitive movements involving the great toe, ankle, and hip. The manuscript shows a novel automated method for nocturnal PLM detection, which was shown to be correlated with (a) the manually scored PLM index on polysomnography, and (b) white matter hyperintensities on brain imaging, which have been demonstrated to be associated with PLMs.
