This experimental project was an exploration into the analogue-digital divide. It also looked at the "paradox" of choice, whereby having many digitally-enabled options at our fingertips has caused a situation where it actually becomes difficult to make a selection. I ended up creating a music selection program that allowed selection to be made in ways that reflected more human choice mechanisms. By creating a three-dimensional "object" which could be turned, flipped and zoomed in on, a physical object was essentially created from digital data. It recreated scenarios where things could inspire you to choose something based on what you saw in the corner of your eye, or what mood you were in, or the predominant colour of some artwork reminding you of another album, even if it was totally unrelated album in a musical sense. About Me
Grew up in Birmingham. Studied and worked in Bristol. Currently in London. I have a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, and worked a total of six years at Airbus (formerly British Aerospace). I ended up as a Structural Design Engineer, focussing on wing design for research and new projects. I completed the Innovation Design Engineering course, a combined MA/MSc co-run by the Royal College of Art and Imperial College in the summer of 2011.
