Question answering system is one of the most important applications in Natural Language Processing (NLP). The combination of Information Retrieval (IR) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques allows text understanding that permits a precise answer detection and extraction. The main aim of this project is to implement the “Question Answering System” for Tamil documents from the web. This question answering system is implemented by the term-based approach. In term based approach answer is expressed in documents by using mainly the same terms appearing in the question.
