Creating a balanced online presence for a local flower shop and cafe while letting them take online orders was a challenging and rewarding task. After spending some time with the clients I found that they were strongly involved in social media and used that to drive local business, so I made this a central part of their design. The Facebook plugin is used to drive further engagement to their Facebook page where the clients regularly engage with customers. In this case Twitter was used so that they could regularly update customers on their daily specials which was important for their core, repeat business. Because the clients required so many components to their website I decided to make their online store a single page application. To achieve this I wrote a custom cms in node.js which interfaced with a very ajax heavy front end. The project was deployed to the Amazon cloud for maximum speed and scaling and was future proofed by using mongodb allowing for spec changes.
