Design Against Bike Theft
A project brief set by the RSA - the aim was to develop a means of deterring bike theft but also encourage active bike use within communities and cities. My solution came in two parts, a domed park based shelter and family unit bike stands. The dome solution was intended as a functional and enhancing element for any public park or large open grassed area. The idea behind the design was to encourage the safe use of public parks and provide safe and adequate storage/shelter for peoples bikes. The dome structure allows for grass/turf/plants/vegetation to be laid on top of it and have it become camouflaged into the surrounding area. Made of cast concrete sections, it would withstand the test of time and always remain a decorative feature in any public park area. The family unit bike stands are also decorative elements which aim to encourage families to make use of parks and be safe in the thought of their bikes being left in a secure location.
About Me
I am a design draughtsman with several years experience primarily in the oil and gas sector. My time in industry involved both designing and draughting within the various engineering teams with a focus on downhole tools and equipment. I mainly work with AutoDesk Inventor but have used other softwares in the past including SolidWorks, ProEngineer and AutoCAD. I am highly competent in the use of CAD software and have a wealth of draughting knowledge including industry level procedures and protocols. Currently I work full time as a Design & Technology teacher in the North East of Scotland focussing on CAD and Graphic design, Engineering Science, Design & Manufacture and also practical wood and metalwork. I am highly dependable and always deliver high quality work in a timely manner. I operate with excellecnt communication skills and am always available for repeat work with clients.
