Oliver Butcher is an Illustration graduate. His work has been accepted by the Association of Illustrators for 2009's 'Images 33' and 2011's 'Images 35' exhibition and annual book. He has received a number of commissions during and since university including posters, exhibition pieces, book illustrations and storyboards. He grew up in Essex's county town of Chelmsford where with his brother and his dad. He takes a lot of inspiration from his home town and the people who live there. Oliver is always willing to do projects for other people and taking briefs from all over the world.

A black and white oil pastel piece for a University of Plymouth Press publication that collects together short stories by writers from around the world. This image is an internal single page spread illustration for '1977, or so.' by Meredith Miller.

This is a colorful painting designed for a public mural displayed in the Roland Levinsky building in Plymouth, UK. It was accepted by the Association of Illustrators for the 'Best of British Illustration' exhibition and book publication in 2011.

This is a dark oil pastel piece for a personal project in 2007. It was a short wordless narrative following a man who was consumed by a perpetual hunger for people. A modern vampire, horror story. This frame was accepted by the Association of Illustrators for the 'Best of British Illustration' exhibition and book in 2008.

This is a painting/collage piece commissioned by Peninsular arts Plymouth for a Polish film series that showed at the Jill Craigy cinema in Plymouth.

Lynch and Leigh

I was commissioned by Lynch and Leigh to produce a storyboard for a music video they were shooting for London based rap artist 'Mowgli'. The director had specific camera angles and shots that were required and i was employed to bring my own style and sense of light to the project.

Peninsular arts Plymouth

This company commissioned me to produce a poster and program cover for a Polish poster exhibition in Plymouth, UK. The poster had to reflect the style of a classic Polish poster. As well as being the poster and program cover, my image also featured in the exhibition along with the Polish posters. I was also commissioned to produce a poster for a Polish film series being shown in the Jill Craigy cinema in Plymouth.

The Association of Illustration hosts the 'Best of British Illustration' awards annually and the featured images are exhibited in London and other venues around the UK, and published in the annual hard back book. 'Images 35' was published in 2011.
