A second floor addition proposes to transform and connect this bungalow style home with the impressive view of the bay. This addition includes a new remodeled kitchen, three extra bedrooms, and a new roof structure to integrate the design.
The front facade matches the surrounding architecture, as required by the city of Albany, while the back of the property presents a more modern appearance.

As job captain of this project I was responsible for assisting in the design of the addition. I produced drawings from SD through CDs, coordinated engineering systems documents, conducted the site investigation and code and material research, and produced the project 3d model.

RESIDENCE. Albany, CA

AFFORDABLE HOUSING

This project was an adaptive reuse of an existing tilt-up concrete industrial building for a K-12 charter school.
Enclosed classroom structures and open community spaces are organized around central landscaped courtyards in each wing. They draw light deep into the building and their transparency allows views throughout, establishing a sense of connection within the school and a relationship with the natural environment.

I assisted in many aspects of the design including helping with the programming and drawing conceptual sketches. I also produced schematic design drawings, and conducted the analysis of the site and environment.

CHARTER SCHOOL, Oakland CA

The pavilion will serve as a middle school gymnasium and theater and will have a roof-top play yard. In addition to providing space for sports and physical education activities, the gym converts to a 500-seat theater with pull-out theater seats, curtains, and a full AV system.
The project creates a new plaza at the Brandeis Hillel campus entry, drawing visitors in on a mezzanine level that visually connects the plaza and Pavilion.

I collaborated closely with the project architect participating in the design of exterior elevations as well as the sculptural entry staircase that leads to the mezzanine by updating sketches to reflect design options. In addition I produced design development drawings and the 3d model.

SCHOOL PAVILION, San Francisco CA

This is a new middle school campus that incorporates sustainable strategies throughout, making the architecture a teaching and learning tool.
The campus takes advantage of the mild climate with outdoor classrooms, manages stormwater on site, uses daylighting, shading, and natural ventilation to maintain user comfort, and employs green roof and photovoltaic technologies.

This middle school was an ideal project for me because I was able to participate in many phases of the project. I assisted in the design of the master plan and buildings, created 3d models for schematic designs and design development, conducted a site investigation and produced drawings from schematic through construction documents.
