CHARTER SCHOOL, Oakland CA
This project was an adaptive reuse of an existing tilt-up concrete industrial building for a K-12 charter school. Enclosed classroom structures and open community spaces are organized around central landscaped courtyards in each wing. They draw light deep into the building and their transparency allows views throughout, establishing a sense of connection within the school and a relationship with the natural environment. I assisted in many aspects of the design including helping with the programming and drawing conceptual sketches. I also produced schematic design drawings, and conducted the analysis of the site and environment.
My strengths include architectural planning, drafting, making physical models, hand sketching drafts, computer aided drawing, and rapid 3D modeling.
