The Sephora flagship in Union Square San Francisco is one of the largest stores carrying over 100 brands including skincare, color, and hair products. The competition for the redesign was to feature the color section which is the largest and most popular of Sephora that creates the most revenue. The client also wished to keep with the black, white, and red branding that Sephora is known for. Each step in the application of makeup is, for some, a daily ritual. This process is carried out in layers to “complete a look” with various products. Using layers found in nature, such as a ripple in water, became the concept for the design to capture how beauty forms and implement that into space. I implemented this into the floor plan by layering the different sections of the plan as well as in my use of materials that overlap.
