My thesis topic was an institute for martial arts based on the contemporary philosophies of martial arts. instead of treating the art as a sport or a closed discipline, contemporary philosophy dictates that the practitioner must be free to express himself through his skill and be allowed to evolve while at the same time be practical in a real world combat situation. In my building design I incorporated elements that would enable a person to train his mind and body by navigating the embedded obstacles through their physical prowess. combining necessary indoor and outdoor environments in a seamless manner.
