  I also think it needs something more in the bottom half of the background.
  Leaves under the tree that have been blown under the text as well. Or another thought, a simple wooden bridge, etched into the wood of the lower background.

  I like the warm colouring and love his green eyes. The berries however should be black, with only a hint of red.
  You've lost the details of the leaves, fallen ones round the base would be good
