Ringkasan Peraduan

Looking for an animation to represent communication and travel across planet Earth. Please take a look at the attached 'Global Network' video for an example of the kind of thing I'm looking for. Don't copy it, but draw inspiration from it.

Rather than blue, I would like the lines to be an orangey/yellow colour (with a slight glow) and they should be solid rather than dashed. They should also be about 50% thinner so they're not so thick. The camera should start relatively close like in the example and gradually pull out so the Earth fills about 80% of the vertical frame.

I think the speed of rotation and the speed of the lines forming is too fast in the example video... maybe slow it down by about 50% or so. No need to show a full rotation of the globe, but most of it would be good. Maybe start with Australia and end when we get to North America or something. No need to cover the Pacific.

The sun should be a very slight hint of orange/yellow as well. Not really saturated, but just not blue like in the example. The number of locations/lines in the example is about right. Smooth camera moves, a nice starfield in the background, no Moon or anything. No need for the lines to reflect on the ocean. Looking for the Earth to be quite realistic, but with muted colours like in the example. No bright green parts or anything.

Final deliverable: 1920x1080 progressive, 29.97fps, Quicktime Photo JPG, 75% quality. 20 seconds would be ideal. Minimum of 15 seconds though and a maximum of 30 seconds.

Bonus points if you can deliver as a 2880x1620 file, but quality is more important than resolution. Let me know in the comments if your entry will be provided at 1080p or 1620p.

As I'll be using these in my stock renders, I need to have full ownership of the final video, so it needs to be entirely your own work. May have need for additional space related videos, animations and 3D modelling in the future if you're interested, but we'll start with this contest and see how it goes.

I think that covers everything! Give me a shout if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Scott

PS. I've uploaded some of my assets to Dropbox that might help in the creation of the animation. You've got an 8K starfield, a 4K nebula with transparency (don't use it at 100% opacity, something more subtle like 25% to 50% or something, and some Earth textures. Feel free to use all of them, some of them or none of them.

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/i5nppy0ejpy0ebr/AACHaFePgIXtTJE2gjLepW37a?dl=0

I'm also including a video I made that includes the Earth and uses the starfield/nebula/textures. I'm not too bad when it comes to animation, but it's them pesky lines that I have no idea how to create! Your animation ideally needs to be of a similar or better standard than that. More of a stylised Earth though, like in the 'Global Network' file.

Just wanted to reiterate a point on the final deliverable from the brief... for anyone who has, or is going to submit an entry:

Great, thanks. My main concern was with the duration... some entries were like 3, 8, and 14 seconds long. I was assuming that they were first drafts or needed extending, but just wanted to make sure. Needs to be 15 seconds minimum, which yours is. Good to know on the resolution though. Thanks!

Just for the new people who are coming along.... unfortunately, it's not sufficient to buy a $7 clip from VideoHive and then just upload it as your entry. If it was that easy to make $240, then I'd stick in a couple of submissions myself! Please make sure your entries are entirely your own work. Thanks!

Just in case anyone is interested... if I was entering this contest (which I wouldn't as I don't know how to do the lines!), then my entry would look a little bit like this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAMYBXiSvvw

There's no lines on there, and I'm not sure if the clouds should be as prominent and maybe the Earth looks a bit too 'real' for something that's mean to represent a stylised global communications network. The main thing I do like in my version is the sun, the camera move and the background.

I'm not saying anybody should copy my example, or start from scratch or change their existing entries or anything like that. If your entry looks great then it doesn't matter if it's considerably different from this and there are already some great entries coming in that are different from this. However... if anybody is stuck, doesn't know where to start or wants a better idea of what I like and dislike... then hopefully this helps if only a bit.

I don't think it's possible in After Effects as if you were using particular or stroke, they're 3D plugins, but they don't react with other 3D plugins so the lines are either in front of the planet or behind it. I think it has to be done in a dedicated 3D program.

Can we do the animation in 3ds max? If you just need the animation video then I can do it 3ds max. It can also be rendered as a transparent png sequence if you want to do compositing

V2 wouldn't work in 1.6... but I guess you'd only need a pre-render of the Earth/Space/Sun to use as a guide for the size and rotation of the planet... and then you just the camera data.

Might not be fair for people who don't use After Effects though. Or does everybody use it? Anyway, wouldn't be fair on people who didn't plan to use AE and now they have to.

Maybe I should just keep it as it was originally. Anyway, let me know if it causes problems. I'm quite good at matching movements and stuff, so as long as I have a bit of info to go on, then maybe it would be fairer for me having to match you guys' camera movements when I'm comping everything together, rather than everyone having to match mine.

I think we should leave it as is for now and carry on as we were, but if the option exists for rendering out just the lines with transparency then that would be cool. I can always pay a small bonus for the additional rendering time. Thanks!

That would be fine too, we could do 2 movs, one with everything and one with the lines alone (+ alpha) and you could mix and match as needed.

Question. How would people feel if I altered the deliverable of the contest to be a Quicktime PNG + Alpha of just the lines and the impact points? Then I can tinker with my own versions of the Earth, the Sun and the stars to my hearts content... and composite them all together in After Effects after the contest has finished.

I'd probably have to get a bit of info from you with regards to the camera move and the rotation speed of the Earth, so I can match it up in After Effects, but it means you only have to focus on the one thing. No endless tweaking of the look of the Earth and the stars etc.

I appreciate it means the work you've done so far was a bit of a waste, but on the other hand, it's unlikely I would have awarded the contest to any of the existing entries... and you've all had feedback on the way the lines reveal, so nothing has been a waste really.

I can provide an After Effects project file with an Element 3D V2 setup. Although I should be able to export the camera data as well if that helps.

I have Element 3D version 1.6, I think that would be compatible. not sure.
for camera data, as I have based it on growing lines and what you have said (australia to america), I would appreciate if your provide your project with Reset camera. because I control the camera with other ways which is appropriate for growing lines. Thank you

    Just found this on Pond5...

    http://www.pond5.com/stock-footage/561912/global-business-network-loop.html

The size, shape, colour, speed and glow/lighting of the lines is pretty much perfect. The Earth looks good as well, but it's a flat plane... if it was something like that but on a sphere with the stars in the background, the sun and the camera pulling back then it would be pretty much perfect. Just so you know!

No, it's mainly the thickness, the color and the glow/lighting style of the lines that I like... Ideally they'd still animate on. As for the Earth, I like the style in that video and I like the style in the original video I posted, but i'm not tied to any of them. Happy to see what people come up with.

do you also want the atmosphere to be considered as the main render? because in the example you have attached first, atmosphere is not considered. do you want the earth to be like "Main Earth Render"? because if I add atmosphere, the visibility of lines will be affected.
I could create the lines above the earth, but as there is too much locations to be considered for the map, Render speed is slow and takes time more than regular.
