A pair of spring-free tongs is formed by a pair of arms joined through a hinge when the user held this pair of tongs by palming the hinge, it would open or close depending on which side of the hinge is being pressed thus working like a seesaw. The aim of this contest is to provide a detail design of a lock that will lock this pair of tongs in a closed position when it is not being used. A rough sketch drawing and some photos are provided as a hint for several possible different designs. The final submittal should provide a detailed design suitable for use in production. A winner is chosen based on the elegance, simplicity in production, and ease/comfort of use of the final design.

  Yes, the tongs will be closed at the locked position so the jaws should touch or nearly so.

  Sorry, I don't know how to seal the previous context as I am not familiar with navigating through Freelancer it is too complicated. I don't think others need to "steal your idea" as I have taken some design ideas from googling "locking mechanism for poultry scissors" and have these photos and drawing displayed for all to see.
