We are doing a whole series of T-shirt designs on popular dogs. This project is for 50 original illustration of a dog's face to be printed on T-shirt (see attached).
There will be many subsequent projects of similar to this in nature for a long time to come. In addition to the first 50 breeds of dogs, there are at least 50 other breeds to follow. Furthermore, for each breed, we might want to have different colors of dogs in the same breed. And then there are cats and other pets. We are using the list put out by AKC (American Kennel Club). Freelancer will relinquish the copyright to us on all the illustrations. In other words, we will not allow the freelancer to resell the illustrations to our competitors. So, if this is something you can do, please participate.
When preparing your illustration, please be considerate of the available (common) T-shirt colors. The dog's face must blend into the color of the shirt. You can reference a color chart from a popular American T-shirt company here: [login to view URL]
There are two things to keep in mind:
1). Since we might be requesting for different color of the same dog, you should also create a mask layer in PSD so that changing color of the fur may be easier. We will also need this mask to make our printing more realistic.
2). Try to keep the color of the T-shirt to a minimum. For example, we will not stock 10 different shades of brown T-shirt so that each breed of dogs will look more realistic. We might force to change the color of certain dog to match the few shades of brown we will carry.
The attached sample files are not going to be our final design, but it will be similar. You can use them as a reference to create your illustration.
Do not use stock photo, or steal other people's work. Copyright is very serious. If we unwittingly used a copyrighted material and got sued, we will prosecute the freelancer. Since you'll be contracted to continue to work on other dog illustrations, you must have the ability to create it on your own.
To qualify you as a potential candidate, we will require a high-resolution raster file (approx. 11x17 inch at 300 dpi) from the freelancer so that we can use it to print a sample to ensure the quality of the illustration is acceptable.
Once contracted, there will be six milestones: deposit to begin job, and five equal payments of the balance for every 10 illustrations done.
