Improve and test NFS and ZFS performance

We have an infrastructure set up as follows:
Server 1 (Debian):
24 Drive ZFS (production right now)
10Gbe NIC
Server 2 (Proxmox)
10Gbe NIC
NFS Mount (from server)
Multiple Virtual Machines and LXC containers ontop of the NFS mount
The issue is that we arent seeing great performance on the NFS mount and the VM/LXC machines work but just seem slow and sluggish since they were moved to the NFS mount
We want a freelancer to investigate the current set up and make recommendations where the bottle necks are.
Since this is a production system, we cant do much trial and error but more investigation.
