Video card sniff for 3d card

I am working on a project that we need to sniff if the user has a 3D card on the computer as we install. I was thinking that we could find that info inthe regestry .. any ideas or applications that anyone knows of that could help us out? Working on a screensaver that will redirect the user to a diffrent install if the computer in question can not deal with it.
