Android App +Google API: Photos, GPS, Remote Msg

We are software developers with technical backgrounds. However, we do not have experience with the Google Android SDK.

We are looking for someone to build our first Android application. You will also have the option of building other Google Android applications on our behalf in the future (these will be separate projects).

For this project, we'll need your guidance as to which SDK options are best. At present, we plan on using a variety of **intrinsic Android SDK components**, along with **Google API features**.

**We expect that most of the application will utilizes these pre-written components**. If you disagree with this, you may open a PM and explain concerns you have with different features.

You will test this application from an Android emulator in WVGA800. The application can be resource-intensive, we are standardizing internally on phones with 1-Ghz CPU's and 1gb RAM.

## Deliverables

**Coder Requirements:**

- C++ / Java software developer (Dalvik Java experience) familiar with the Google SDK (2.1 platform building on the WVGA800 skin) and Google API components

- Familiar and capable of developing with Android's intrinsic components: Multi-Route GPS, Photos, Speech-to-Text, and integrated messaging.

- Strong familiarity with OO design principles and code architecture

- SQLlite experience

The full specification is complete and available for this project, including data model and specific mock-ups. Below is a simple summary of the application (the detailed spec will be provided directly, for privacy).

* A "location list" (list of US street addresses) is sent to Andoid by a remote application. The average list includes between 50 and 250 addresses. You will be responsible for utilizing the API to receive this list on the Android, from a remote communication method.

* The Android application will generate directions for the multi-location map with up to 250 stops (using Google API, I suspect).

* The user will drive the map, using the intrinsic GPS. When they reach each destination they will stop and switch to a UI.

* At the stop, in the separate UI, they will take a photo (one or more) and write notes (the user may also choose to "speak" the notes, by using Google's integrated Speach-to-Text feature for input boxes)

* This information is automatically sent back to the remote application, behind-the-scenes (transparently to the user). Sent back to the server, the data will include the photos, notes, GPS coordinates, and timestamp.

* The user continues along the map to the next destination

* The user may pause the map, and re-start from a new location later.

**Additional Requirements:**

* Coder must be ready to start the project immediately. Coder will be given full specs to work from.

* Complete application must be ready for testing phase within 3 weeks.

* Coder must be able to answer a list of questions based on their Android experience (with factual answers) within 24 hours. And within 48 hours, the coder must be able to show a framework (not a full application, but a walk-through to communicate design-points).

*** Coder must open a PM,** and explain his most difficult Android project to date, and any knowledge / understanding he has of using the API's mentioned here, to fulfill this project. We will utilize this information as an "interview" to determine whether the developer is capable of handling this project. Your answer will be compared to other developer's, to determine who is the best match for this project.
