Short-term web project. IMPORTANT: ONLY apply if you are within driving distance of Westwood, Los Angeles, as we will need to meet frequently in-person to go over the project. Description: Development of a portal of slashdot-type ([url removed, login to view]) group weblogs (channels) using drupal as the CMS ([url removed, login to view]), installation onto a server, and testing. Specific capabilities required are listed below. Most of the requirements can be created by using the web interface of drupal, but some need to be coded. ===================== You should have at _least_ 2yrs of Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP experience in a business environment. Experience with drupal a plus; otherwise, be able to learn it rapidly. Excellent oral and written communication skills required, along with ability to work as a team member. ## Deliverables
Capabilities: 3 levels of users: Users Editors Administrator _Users Capabilities:_ Login 1. Single login for all sites 2. User profiles. Comments 1. Make comments 2. Moderate comments 3. Filter comments Stories 1. Submit stories to the queue for each channel Story should include headline, writeup, link, and appropriate sub-topic to be filed under. (E.G. In a “dogs?? channel, a sub topic might be “training??) 2. Vote on which stories should be promoted from the queue to the main page of the channel. Channels 1. Submit new topics for consideration as a channel 2. Vote on which topics should receive a channel. _Editors Capabilities:_ Editors should have all of the capabilities of users, and: Blocking 1. Ability to block and unblock users Sub-Topics 1. Ability to create and delete sub-topics. 2. Ability to add images to sub-topics. Stories: 1. Ability to promote stories from the queue to the main channel page. Users: 1. Abilility to promote other users to become editors. Note: if a user is an editor for one channel, that should not automatically give him the capability of being an editor for every other channel. But a user may have editor rights on more than one channel. _Administrator:_ All user and editor abilities for all topics, and 1. Ability to promote users to editors, and demote them back to regular users 2. Ability to edit each user account 3. Ability to change layout on main page. Channels 1. Ability to create new channels. Additionally, you need to provide: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
