Get PHP to call remote .asmx web service(repost)

I need PHP to call a remote (over internet) .asmx web service.

The webservice runs on IIS but that shouldn't matter. I think you either need to use Microsoft's Client side ajax kit OR....some soap thing in PHP. BUT....I really need someone who knows the Best way to do this so it will work with all browsers.

So bottom line: Just call successfully (with parameters) a remote .asmx web service from php.

The solution needs to work "from the page" with nothing needed to be installed.

This must be a scalable solution that also works with All browsers.

And the theory is this....I need to call it from "within the page". Like through an onchange in a dropdown menu.

The end result that I need a scriptmanager (IIS) behaviour....in PHP.
