Python daemon with XML-RPC server

I need a very simple Python daemon for Linux (Debian 4+) that has an XML-RPC server which exposes one function. I will provide the source code for the method (it is very simple - several lines of code).

I need to connect to the XML-RPC server from PHP and execute the function giving as parameter a string. The function does some processing on the string and returns another string as a result or an associative array (output choice is based on a second parameter to the function - mode = string|array).

Daemon should have start, stop, restart and status arguments. Status would output "Running" or "Stopped" when invoked, letting me know if the daemon is running or not.

Ideally, the function I need exposed in XML-RPC server would be a method in a class, the class being in a a file of itself. I would prefer this so if I need to add extra functions I can do it easily.

I will also need a simple XML-RPC client implementation example in PHP to test everything. **Let me know in your bid if you can provide this or not.** If you can't, that's ok, you can still bid. If you can provide the simple implementation example in PHP as well, you have higher chances to be picked for this project.
