Remove / Redirect folder with htaccess

Hi there,
i have an gambio online shop, and this shop is in the folder /gambio. Now every site looks like [login to view URL]
I need to remove all sites from [login to view URL] to [login to view URL] so im able to show [login to view URL] and not *.com/gambio/something
I thing i have a issue in my actual htaccess files. I got one in the roof folder and one from the store in the gambio folder.
The old pages need to be accesible with the old links (redirectetd to new page) and the "new page" (public/) should show the page from the old site (/gambio/)
This should be very easy for someone who knows about mod_rewrite or htacces. The site is hosted on a linus server with apache...
