Hi there,
We need to create a plugin to calculate how many boxes are needed for shipping.
The plugin should implement a box (meta) in every product to set the number of spaces on the box consumed. So, for example, if the space in the box is 6 and the product 1 consumes 2 spaces and the product 2 consumes 5 spaces, we will need 2 boxes.
The boxes are simple products and need to be included automatically in the order.
Let me clarify it with an easy example:
We sell wine and ship it in boxes of 3 or 6 bottles. We also sell wine packs of 2 bottles and 6 bottles. Additionally, we sell tonic waters that count as a half slot in that package (two tonic waters fits in the slot of a wine bottle).
What we need is to have a field where we can set the number of slots used by product. After that, in the order the plugin will calculate the number of boxes of 3 and 6 bottles needed and include it automatically in the order (meta).
