coppermine troubleshoot

Coppermine site has been running fine.

7 new pictures were uploaded and the thumbnails and pictures don't show (just "name.jpg") I moved them all into a temporary album.

I get this error when i try to delete the album or the files -

"Directory "x" is not writable, files can't be deleted"

the folder and files are all 777.

i think new uploads are working fine. I just need to get these deleted.
