Help with error; The service “httpd” appears to be down.

Hi,
Approx every 10 minutes we get an email from cPanel monitoring with the below error. Our hosts are not being helpful in resolving the issue and want to simply restore a backup from yesterday. We can't afford to restore the backup as it will mean substantial data loss. I have no server knowledge (although I'm a fluent programmer) and need someone to assist in resolving this issue without restoring a backup. I need someone to be available to work on this right away without delay, it is time critical. The server is a VPS.
I'm online now and ready to appoint somebody. I would also use your services going forward to help secure/maintain the server.
