Rails App with dynamic Select2 / Highcharts visualization

I am working on a Rails app that allows the user to make a few selections from a dropdown menu and from a multiple option Select2 field.
On change, the application should make a request to the backend to fetch new data based on the choices selected from the inputs.
My primary issue right now is that I am running into a bug that causes the browser to timeout when I try to collect that selected items in the Select2 field:
Uncaught RangeError: Maximum call stack size exceeded at buildParams
All I'm doing is:
$('.company-team-list').find("option:selected")
So, the first task will be to resolve this bug. Ongoing work will be to write the Rails backend that queries the database to build the charts with real data.
I can provide access to a test repo and will also require some time overlap to screenshare / pair up as I need to be able to support my client on this project going forward, so I need to be sure I understand exactly how you solve the issues.
