**About Me**
As a brief background, I was born in 1972 Sydney, Australia to Scottish Parents. I began programming as an 11 year old at school on an Apple IIe and since then have been continuously involved as a hobbyist and professional.
My schooling was generally good resulting in a top 1% university entrance mark. Initially I studied medicine for two years, before changing to Physics BSc at James Cook University, Queensland, Australia, then progressing to Monash Univerisity, Melbourne, Australia for studies in Engineering BE(Electronic and Electrical).
My career has been varied based mainly on contract work and includes some of the following companies:
* Ansett Air Freight
* Compaq (Australia)
* HP (Australia)
* Commonwealth Sugar Refineries
* Philips (Singapore)
In addition to a number of local goverments and government agencies and smaller companies including startups.
Currently I lecture for the Cambridge Diploma in Computing courses in Singapore.
My personal life revolves around my wife and 18 month old son in Singapore, where I am now a Permanent Resident. My hobbies include keeping aquarium fish and game development.
## Area of Expertise
My areas of expertise are in database driven office applications including intranet and point of sale systems and low level device programming.
I have 10 yrs of Windows programming experience and almost the same with Unix platforms. The languages I use are C/C++ , Visual C++, Visual Basic in addition to scripting languages such as perl and php. I am very experienced with database applications using MySQL, MSSQL and Oracle.
