Code Review: C# HTTP Post Return JSON and NOT XML

The code seems to return a JSON serialized object using - JsonConvert.SerializeObject. However, the JSON property and key are surrounded by XML, and the receiving server only detects "Response Content-Type: text/xml" and not "application/json" Example Existing Return Value: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <string xmlns="[login to view URL]">{"recordsAdded":1}</string> This project is to review the existing source code and manipulate the code to return the desired, properly formatted "application/json" content type output without indicating an XML return structure and value. The code provided will be a subset of the entire project and mocked-up sections will be provided; e.g. remove unrelated functions.
