I have the robot in this picture [login to view URL] and I want to make it move like this robot using ROS [login to view URL] I can control the robot using python over serial port at the moment but it does not react to the data from kinect. I can also read the angle position of the arms

I am an engineer in control and automation, I programdo some robotic arms along my life, only a small observation I guess you already know, but your proposal is not entirely clear: the degrees of freedom of the two arms are different, it is not possible to achieve the same movements, however, I think you can achieve an interesting program. Need to program it with inverse kinematics?, or simply degree of freedom movements to work through kinect ?

Hi, I'm a MS in Robotics Student at Carnegie Mellon University, USA (top university for robotics in the world). I have years of experience with ROS, C++ and Python. Some of my relevant experience includes research at honda robotics (Japan), CNRS(france), Autodesk (USA), NREC (Pittsburgh), Robotics Institute(USA). I have worked on various robots in my career and have developed many custom robots too. I have wrote Inverse Kinematic solvers for many manipulators, worked with different kind of sensors(Kinect, Xtion Pro, LIDARs, RADARs, Sonars, IR etc). Most of my projects have been developed in ROS. I'm an expert in using various packages, features and libraries that ROS offers like Moveit!, OMPL, KDL, FastIK, URDF etc. We can have a skype session before you actually grant me permission to work on your project, I have 7 publications in the filed of robotics and would love to share my portfolio incase you are interested. During my master thesis I have used MoveIt! for designing a grasping pipeline and I still have all my source code, so it will be quite easy to do something similar. In addition to that, I have recently finished a fellowship which involved mobile robots, wherein I integrated a people detection module in one of my prototypes. So I have some experience with working with Kinect sensor data. But I will need more information, so would like to talk about it.
