Small gardening business bills 30-35 clients according to time. I have 3 to 8 casual/part-time staff. We do many small jobs and it is important to stay on top of labour overhead that is not direct billable hours = e.g. staff time spent organizing, loading and unloading equipment and supplies, staff meeting time, etc.
I need someone to do this for me in excel at least twice a week but if you are good at excel the data entry will likely not take you more than a half an hour each time, maybe an hour tops. The spreadsheets exist and the timesheets would be scanned and sent to you in pdf form. I need 24 hour turnaround at least once per week and ideally twice weekly.
Once we get that working we would move on to creating some reports and pulling together payroll twice a month.
For the right candidate this could be a long term and gradually growing, ongoing part-time engagement. However it is seasonal. Work diminishes to almost nothing from December through to mid March and is at it's peak from April to the end of June and then a smaller peak from September to the end of November. You need to be :
- accurate at data entry and ideally someone who enjoys it (I have had staff who do)
- skilled but not necessarily an expert in excel: adept at sorting, copying information, understanding formulas including logical formulas: if you can figure out what this does that would be impressive =IF(IF(C3*E3>0,IF(E3>=C3,E3-C3+(F3-D3)/60,12+E3-C3+(F3-D3)/60),0)<0,12+IF(C3*E3>0,IF(E3>=C3,E3-C3+(F3-D3)/60,12+E3-C3+(F3-D3)/60),0),IF(C3*E3>0,IF(E3>=C3,E3-C3+(F3-D3)/60,12+E3-C3+(F3-D3)/60),0))
however it is more important that you can write formulas of that kind and especially that you understand the implications of cell changes, sorts, pasting and deletions in excel on such formulas (in other words if you can't figure it out in five minutes, don't worry about it, just make sure you can write formulas like that ... I use office 2000, hopefully newer excel has a function that does what that formula does).
- talented at arithmetic: ratios, fractions, percentages, algebra. An analytical / problem solving mind is a plus.
- we would communicate via email and skype and exchange files via drop box. I don't care where you are so long as we can find a common time to talk when necessary and your english is good and clear enough for me to understand.
