I need a simple web scraper that will take a site URL, and make a list of all videos on the site that don't have video captions. I know there are many types of web video, and many formats for video captions. For this scraper I just need it to work for one type -- HTML 5 <video> element, and for only one type of caption file: WebVTT reference in a <track> element. So the logic is simple: - Start with a Search page that has two elements: <input type="search">, and <button>Go</button - Your script Loads the page (I assume cURL) - Parse page looking for <video> elements - For each <video>, does the <video> element have a child <track> element? If not, store two things: the URL (where we are in the tree), AND the URL for the video file (the <source> element for the <video> in a table in a MySQL database. - Iterate through the public-facing linked pages to check as much of the site as we have access to.
