PROJECT SUMMARY When run, this application uses its current location to retrieve data via the Google Places API. The results are sorted and presented according to some basic preferences set by the end user. The user then has the ability to rate the location which will subsequently affect which places are shown to both other users and themselves in the future. A separate database will need to reside on the web to store some of the information such as ratings and user information. In the future, a web interface will be designed for regular browser access. PLATFORMS Whilst this will be developed for both iPhone and Android (Windows Mobile later), the Android application is the focus of this project. It should be kept in mind that the iPhone application will follow once the application has met satisfactory standards. Please apply if you can develop for both platforms. APPLICATION FEATURES - Use of Google Places API - Location services (GPS) - Connection to database sitting on web (to store ratings and user information) - Setting of user preferences (to filter results) - Setting of user demographic information (to filter results) - Listing of relevant results (and ratings) - View more detail for a result (Details and Google map) - Notification (when running) of nearby results of interest - Algorithm use to aid in determining best results - Allow submission of dated rating for a place (stored in online database) VISUAL DESIGN - Must be visually attractive - Layout and color guide will be provided More detail will be provided upon allocation of project.
