I need a very basic application written that can power an 8MHz doppler probe, then receive and amplify the signal on the other end.
To expound on my prior description, the application would provide I/O support for a device connected through an apple 30 pin connector. The device itself is very simple, and consists of two piezoelectric crystals, one for send, one for receive. The frequency range I would like on the "send" arm is 8-9.1 MHz, and can be a fixed frequency. I do not need the ability to change the frequency or modulate in any way. I do not have enough engineering background to specify amps or wattage output needed, but other similar devices run on C or AA batteries. I expect it is not high powered at all. The "receive" arm will basically send a voltage back to the 30-pin connector which needs to be transmitted to the user as a sound wave. There needs to be a toggle on off switch in the software along with a volume control. The ideal user interface would be very stripped down, with just the on/off and the volume control.
I think you guys are all overthinking this. I need an output of 9.1MHz and a way to detect signals that reflect back. I don't think this cost more than a few hundred dollars.
