hello sir: I have read the pdf file, and I am sure I have confidence to do your task. I am also a Linux & C programmer, my goal is become a Linux kernel developer, I have compiled kernel many times in the VirtualBox on a CentOS 5 system(to let new compiled kernel could be boot success, you need enable the option CONFIG_DEPRECATED_SYSFS=y in configure file, otherwise, you could't boot success, it's only occur when you are trying compile on VM, many others don't know it). to done this task, if you can provide the ssh to your PC is a best way, or teamviwer as a alternative option. to download and compile the kernel can be done in 5-7 hours, most time will be spent on compilation(at least need 1 hour, normally is 2-4 hours). and I am very familiar with the kernel source code, to add those system call can be done in 1 day, the totally to done the task will need about 3 days, and remaining 1 day will be used to test the new system call.
