Project Description:
Looking for an experienced web programmer to build the back-end for a well-specified site.
For maximizing efficiency, the application will need to be built on a code framework. Which framework is not determined at this point, but viable candidates include CakePHP, CodeIgniter, Ruby on Rails, Django (Python). Data back-end will be MySQL plus Amazon S3.
A design exists, and the XHTML/CSS has been largely (90%) completed:
knectar(dot)com/fm2/ (static version)
A functional specification exists with a clear definition of scope for the phase, to be provided following programmer inteview.
A budget for the phase (as defined in the spec) is set at . but demonstrations of efficient programming practice will be rewarded. I.e., strong OOP programmer, using a strong MVC framework such as ROR, will be able to build out most of the features fairly quickly.
The winning (and successful) candidate will also be rewarded with project equity (a percentage of advertising revenue).
Programmer attributes:
- Clean coding practice, including obvious things such as logical indentation of code, inline commenting, logical naming conventions.
- Object oriented programmers only. No spagetti. No heinous interweaving of server side and client side.
- Experience with JavaScript libraries a must (in this case, jQuery).
- AJAX experience a must.
- Experience or readiness to use source control (SVN and TortoiseSVN), specifically, a Springloops account has been set up for the project.
- Good communication(!) While the specifications are thorough, they will of course need to be discussed. While IM is fine (at a minimum) period phone calls will also be necessary.
- Freelancers only.
