Flash components in Laszlo

RAC020_02 Creating Flash chart components for use by Laszlo Flash delivers crisper and more modern web presentations. Its object file format (.SWF) is similar to an executable language and is generated by MacroMedias’ Flash MX program among others. (see [login to view URL]). Laszlo is an open source system that generates Flash (SWF) files from an XML dialect conventionally stored in .LSZ files and can be found at htpp://[login to view URL] The project involves creating some extension elements for the Laszlo XML dialect to support drawing primitives (lines/shapes etcetera). This project is the first in a series of four. It involves the following: • Familiarising yourself with Flash technology • Downloading, installing and familarising yourself with Laszlo (beta release 3.0b2). Note that this is a large download, and a modern Java runtime is a prerequisite; also 512Mb memory on your development machine. • Using new features in the JavaScript API for the current Beta release of Laszlo to implement new Laszlo classes/XML elements. The features are not formally documented but we have source code of a fairly comprehensive example, and Laszlo sources implementing the API are also available for your inspection. • Using the Drawingt API to create some new Laszlo elements roughly congruent with a subset of SVG Project (1) is mainly to establish that the winning bidder can work with Laszlo. It is planned that more than one person will be commissioned to undertake Project (1). Then Projects (2) to (4) will be specified. This may not be a suitable project unless you have skills in most of the following: • SVG and JavaScript • XML and XLST • some understanding of the capabilities of the Flash bytecode interpreter (SWF) The attached ZIP file con tgai9ns a number of files and describes the acceptance criteria and further information including some examples. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows?
