This is a rather small project which I am using as a test project for a much larger project we have coming up in the next couple months. Please review the first page of the attached spec for information on the scope and followup project.
This project should be developed in VB6 and is intended to track inventory for a retail sporting goods store. The application will then automatically create and upload a website based on the items currently in inventory.
If we are pleased with the quality of the application returned, we will most likely send the next project to the same programmer. The next project is substantially larger and involves developing a full featrured POS application for a retail store, including credit card integration, hand scanners, cash registers, etc. That project will probably be developed in VB6 or VB.Net against an MSDE backedn. Please do not bid on this project if you have no time, skills or desire to work on the larger one. The primary goal of this project is to refine my spec development skills and learn about outsourcing.
If anyone has problems downloading the spec due to size, please let me know, I can send you just the Word document and not the attached database file by email.
The project deadline is negotiable. I will need the programmer to start the project and submit some sample code for my review within the 30 days, but please don't let the deadline keep you from bidding. Contact me directly to discuss more details, or include what you feel is a reasonable timeframe for delivery in your bid.
## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
Broadcast message 11/21
I apologize for sending so many brodcast email messages, but I am new to sending my specs out for someone else to code, and am learning that I need to be more clear in some of my comments. Since several people have asked for clarification on exactly what the "smaller project"
is, or what exactly they are bidding on now, I want to make sure everyone understands.
The 48 page specification and attached sample database structure is the project you are currently bidding on. I am looking for someone to write a complete, professional quality application based on those specs that will allow a gun shop to track their current inventory, and then have the application automatically generate a website (static html based) that will be uploaded by the application to the user's webserver.
The larger application I refer to in the specs actually has nothing to do with this project. It is somewhat similar in design, but it is a full featured Retail Pet store point of sale program. You have no information on that program right now, and it will be an entirely different project with its own price, etc.
Your current bid is to develop the application defined in the 48 page specs only. I mentioned the larger program because the programmer that does this project will be my preferred programmer for the next project, so I wanted to make sure they could handle a potentially several hundred hour job.
I'm sorry for the confusion. If anyone misunderstood and needs to adjust their bid, please feel free to do so, or ask additional questions. I will not be making a choice until bidding ends tomorrow. I think most people understood this, but want to make sure I am clear and fair.
Thanks.
Jeff
## Platform
The application is workstation based (Desktop App) and should be able to run on Win98, Win2000, WinXP at a minimum.
