My First question is Is the GPS devices where you installed SIM, are those devices are Android based devices. Second the service API which you have got from vender, are those web API or what those API provide output (JSON/XML). Hello, I'm java web developer with 2 years of experience. To start working on the project you need to know the protocols on which the device will be sending the data like GPS protocol HS, ET, OBD or BH over either TCP or UDP. You can get this information from the device manufacturer or searching online their website. I have worked on a similar project to track vehicles using GPS devices. GPS devices send location messages using a particular gps protocol (like HS, ET, BH, OBD etc. ) via TCP or UDP protocol that you can know from GPS manufacturer. The gps device will have to be configured to set password, IP, PORT, APN, TCP or UDP . There will 2 part of the project for simplicity the first one will be server to receive GPS messages from the devices and second part will be the web site to show the location and history of previous locations and other information that a GPS device can send like fuel info, speed of the device etc. I will create the server for the GPS devices. I'll be using the following technologies to built the server- Java as backend language. APACHE Mina framework to receive the TCP/UDP messages over a particular port. Spring framework - A framework to create web apps easily. Hibernate - For database connectivity. and MySQL database to store the data.
