Hello. I know ownCloud well, I'm using it every day for personal aims and also used it for several commercial projects. It's very good system, but there are other similar systems which might be more useful for you. Question 1: what is the operation system on server with SugarCRM? Windows and Linux may have different solutions. Question 2: do you want to synchronize the whole some folder? If yes, need not even see current code for box.com. Synchronization will work independently. And it will be possible to synchronize not only SugarCRM data but other data too. So let me know some more details on your current system and I'll suggest (and implement of course) the best solution for you task

I managed to create a PHP plugin for owncloud that allows users to use their GDrives. I think it wouldn't be a problem to modify your current PHP-plugin for SugarCRM and use it with owncloud.
