My project is looking for a structural engineer who can provide design services for a medium-sized, moderately complex residential building. The ideal engineer will have professional experience in design and structural principles and be able to adhere to the project’s construction schedule. They must have strong technical and communication skills with the capacity to collaborate with team members, subcontractors, and other parties. The successful applicant will also be familiar with applying relevant codes and regulations and have a strong portfolio of previous work. Details: House is in Walpole NH 03608 1950's Ranch, exterior wall to wall, is 26' 2x6 Ceiling joists 16" oc 2x6 rafters 16" oc 64" Span between 2x4 verticals that go from ridge beam to ceiling joists 2x4 exterior walls 2x8 floor joist Struts are 5x3/4 True 6x6 in basement supporting floor down the middle of the house, shown in basement picture Hopeful clear span of 23.5'. This would be from exterior wall to an interior wall corner that sits above a column on top of a footing (pictured) in basement. Size of column for supporting beam will determine the beam length, I could use help to calculate that also. If this span is out of the question, it is a low impact to our layout to have the clear span be 20'. It would be a large impact to the plan but we are open to breaking the span up if needed and have a column in the middle of the beam. This location also has a steel column with a footing. I will attach a picture to show what I believe to be a footing for verification.
