Bujinkan Taikai

This project is very simple. The objective of the website [login to view URL] is to list all Bujinkan events in the world. Obvioiusly, to do this, the website will allow users to register and post their own events. I have looked at different event list extensions and found some that will do the job. However, I find Joomla very confusing and I don't have the time to sit here and figure it out, it's not very intuitive. I need somebody to evaluate the best extension for the job and to get it up and running according to my requirements. Commercial extensions are not a problem. Requirements: Home Page The home page should show two sections. (1) a search form where visitors can search for events by: - Category (Taikai, Seminar, or Camp), - Date (from date to date - default from will be tomorrow, default to will be 7 days later), - Region, - Country, (this selection changes according to the region selected) - Instructor. The search will result in a list of items available. (2) a section showing 5 events during the next 7 days, giving priority by category (first Taikai, then Seminar, then Camp). Clicking on one of these will bring the user to the detail page. (3) a side section (box) inviting users to register with the site to receive email alerts regarding events. Result List This page will show a list of results according the search parameters. Clicking on one of the results will bring the user to the detail page. The results will show the thumbnail of the event. Detail Page This page will show all the details regarding the event. Details will include: (a) Start Date and End Date (date will be inserted/edited in dd/mm/yyyy, but will display as 1 July 2004) (b) Start Time and End Time (24h time) (so for example, 1 July 2010 - 4 July 2010, 10.00-17.00) (c) Event title (d) Category (a selection from Taikai, Seminar, Camp) (e) Instructor(s) (a textbox where the author can write in the name of the instructor/s) (f) Region (a selection from North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia, Australia) (g) Country (a selection from list of all countries that are populated according to the Region selected) (h) City (author will type this in) (i) Thumbnail image (80 x 100 pixels) (j) WYSIWYG editor that allows text formatting and images to be uploaded, no javascript. (k) Website (author can put in a URL to their website). (l) Email for info (by default put the author's email, but the author can change it with another one for the announcement). (m) Phone for info (same as email, author's phone by default, but changeable). NO REGISTRATION FOR THE EVENT IS REQUIRED AT THIS STAGE. Settings I will need a settings page where I can determine: Mail From Address (editable). Mail Message Templates (configurable email content for all emails) Category management Event moderation and any other setting that is needed. Email content: I need the following automatic emails. When a new event is added: (a) email to author when they add a new event, telling them that all events are moderated and that upon acception, they will be informed. (b) email to moderator (configurable in settings), when somebody adds a new event to the site. When new event is accpeted / denied by moderator: (c) email to author informing them of acception / denial Email alerts: I need to allow people to register with the website and subscribe to email alerts. Once a new event is accepted by the moderator, email alerts need to be sent out automatically to those users who subscribed to events in a certain region, country or instructor. FUTURE IMPLEMENTATIONS (1) users can register for events and pay for them online. (2) a button for "Add to Watch List".
